There were a number of clubs promoted from step 5 to 4 last season, I’m not sure how many applied and how many were forced to take promotion. I presume the one’s that applied had already made ground improvements that are needed at step 4 (Category D?). Who does Category E apply to?
Normally these have to be completed by 31st March – is the FA allowing extra time for the ‘forced' clubs? If they don’t meet the requirement will they be relegated?

The FA scrapped the E Grade. All clubs were compulsory promoted. Every club had until 31st March this season to get the D Grade. Any that don’t, will be placed in the relegation position at the end of the season. This is how it’s going to go from now on!

Thanks for the info Windy1970. Do you have a view on if there are more than two teams who don't meet the ground grading. From the regulations document that you refer to in the post on the Northern league forum two teams will be relegated from each step 4 league so say 4 teams fail the grade in a league, is it likely that they would all be relegated or only the bottom 2 based on league position? Presume the FA have not considered this possibility, but should have given the compulsory promotions without the need to meet ground gradings last season.

Any reprieves at step 4, will initially be in the the specific division, then across that specific league & then across the step. With 2 teams already resigned or folded (Colwyn Bay & Thamesmead), their are 12 spaces left. Aylesbury have already stated that they’ve failed & will return to step 5. So that’s 11 & I doubt we’ll get that many clubs that fail. If it actually goes beyond those, then it’ll be an FALC’s decision & I’d assume that the best step 5 runner up on a ppg basis will be promoted(unlikely to happen though).

Their are about 40 odd clubs at step 4 on the hit list! But they will all have different problems. One club had to remove a urinal to make enough space to pass the grading. Bizarrely they were only a few square inches away from passing anyway(before said urinal was removed). But those at the FA who like to tick boxes, failed them & they were threatened with relegation. We might not find out how many clubs have failed, until after the 31st March deadline & maybe not until the constitutions are released for next season.
