BILLINGHAM TOWN V STOCKTON TOWN PREVIEW
EBAC NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

MATCH INFO:
Match Day 1
Saturday 3rd August, Bedford Terrace, Kick Off 3:00pm
Town: All Royal Blue
Stockton: Red Shirts/Black Trim, Red Shorts

FOCUS ON STOCKTON:
Manager Mickey Dunwell has built a formidable side during the summer by bringing in proven quality as striker Jamie Owens returns after a season with Marske United along with central midfielder Tom Portas from West Auckland Town. Full backs Lewis Wing and Dan McWilliams signed along with Cieran Jackson who had been on trial during pre season. The squad smacks of attacking talent with James Risbrough on the left side and Kevin Hayes on the right. The supporting cast includes Nathan Mulligan, Fred Woodhouse and Max Craggs while Mikey Roberts could be the main goal threat. Goalkeeper and former Synner Callum Roberts is another new addition and will be protected by the trusted central defensive pairing of Tom Coulthard and Adam Nicholson - both will be a threat from set pieces. With such a squad at his disposal, Dunwell will be hoping his players can challenge for promotion.

ONE TO WATCH: KEVIN HAYES
Stockton youth product who returned to the club after a brief spell with Spennymoor Town last season. Impressed in Stockton’s opening two friendlies and scored four goals during pre season. Can play on either wing or in a deep attacking central role behind the main striker. Extremely pacy and has quick feet to go with the skill. A potential match-winner!

PRE-SEASON RESULTS:
Liversedge 0-5 Stockton (Owens 2, Craggs, Hayes, King)
Stockton P-P Marske United
Stockton 3-0 Whitby Town (Hayes, Roberts, Smith)
Northallerton Town 1-1 Stockton Town (Roberts)
Stockton 2-0 Redcar Athletic (Roberts, Nicholson)
Stockton 4-2 Pickering Town (Mulligan, Roberts, Hayes, Trialist)
Stockton 1-1 Spennymoor Town (Hayes)

LAST HOME LEAGUE ENCOUNTER:
2016/17 NL2: Billingham Town 1 (Oakley) Stockton Town 1 (Hannah)

LAST HOME CUP ENCOUNTER:
2017/18 LC: Billlingham Town 1 (Lambert) Stockton Town 4 (Owens 2, Mulligan, Garbutt)

CLUB LINKS:
Michael Arthur (Goalkeeper at Stockton/Left Back at Billlingham), Alan Cossavella, James Risbrough, Jamie Owens, Kallum Hannah, Jamie Poole.

Adam Nicholson once registered with Billlingham Town but never played while Mark Dixon played for Stockton U18’s.

TALKING TOWN:
Pre match preparations have been hindered due to player unavailability which is inevitable at this time of year due to holidays. Joint manager Barry Oliver spoke of his frustrations but is looking forward to the game ‘To kick off in our first game in division one against a very good Stockton side is going to be a tough test. Our pre season build up has not been what we wanted from it but fitness was always the key against good teams. We are missing five first team regulars against Stockton due to holiday commitments and we don't expect to be settled as a squad till mid August when everyone becomes available so it's a juggling act until then, but we will certainly be focused on whoever we face. Stockton will be one of the favourites for promotion this year and have made some key signings to their squad but it's a game for all the fans to enjoy and I'm sure both teams will be up for it’. There will have to be a plan of expediency in terms of team selection. James Frazer and Matty Robinson could fill in the vacated positions or Dan Flounders may also be an option. Town have more or less gone with the majority of last seasons squad for the opening forty five minutes during pre season games but with several key players missing, everybody who is available, will be in contention for a start.
