|Post subject:||HEATON STANNINGTON v BILLINGHAM TOWN PREVIEW|
Northern League Division Two
Saturday 23rd April, Grounsell Park, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Kick Off 3:00pm.
Heaton: Black & White Shirts, Black Shorts.
Town: All Royal Blue.
Officials: Darren Williams, Matthew Bartlett, Jonathan Gray.
FOCUS ON STAN:
Although Heaton Stannington have finished fourth in the league table, overall, it has been a slightly disappointing season. For some bizarre reason, they seem to be habitual slow starters and often finish the season with a late rattle (not the case here). However, Grounsell Park is always a difficult place to grind out a result, backed by some of the best supporters in the division. The Stan were one of my favourites to be promoted (along with Billingham Town and Northallerton Town), and have undoubted quality in their squad. Town supporters will remember Joe Kerridge from last season and Thibault Charmey is still producing the goods despite reaching the veteran stage of his career (excellent free kick taker). Josh Holland is a nimble winger, a player Town have come across on numerous occasions over the years. Fellow wide man, Lewis Burns has made over 100 appearances and Dean Imray is another experienced player at the club. Central defence could be controlled by Alex Sakellarpoulas and Josh Miller. Other attacking options include Richie Hoggins & Dan Robinson.
ONE TO WATCH: CONNOR CAMPBELL
Former North Shields striker who scored Stan’s goal in the 1-1 reverse fixture. Last weeks hat-trick against Durham City moved him onto 23 league goals for the season and sits in fifth position for the golden boot (forgone conclusion as Craig Hutchinson is on 41!).
Heaton Stannington 5-0 Durham City (Campbell 3, Charmey, )
Crook Town 2-2 Heaton Stannington (Kerridge, Hoggins)
Heaton Stannington 0-3 Thornaby
Heaton Stannington 5-1 Brandon Untied (Holland, og, Kerridge, Sayer, Robinson)
Tow Law Town 1-0 Heaton Stannington
Heaton Stannington 2-1 West Allotment Celtic (Campbell 2)
West Allotment Celtic 1-3 Heaton Stannington (Charmey 2, Miller)
Easington Colliery 2-1 Heaton Stannington (Campbell)
2017/18 Heaton Stannington 3 Billingham Town 0
2016/17 Heaton Stannington 3 Billingham Town 3 (Hutchinson, Dickinson, Connor)
2015/16 Heaton Stannington 0 Billingham Town 2 (Hutchinson 2)
STAN LAST SIX AT HOME: WdWWLW
TOWN LAST SIX AWAY: WWLLWW
Starting on the injury front, Ash Lavan who had to be substituted at half time against Birtley Town has suffered an ankle fracture and will miss the final game of the season. It’s suspected the initial break could of happened during the Durham City game, back in February. Luke Hogan, has joined Reece Kenney with the moon boot and will be looking for a pre-season comeback. Matty Robinson could return to the squad in Lavan’s absence. Craig Hutchinson’s double against Birtley means he has achieved 101 goals during his last two seasons with the club; a phenomenal achievement from a player who was plying his trade in the Wearside League until discovered by Barry Oliver back in 2015. Hutchinson has scored in his previous two visits to Grounsell Park while with Town.
