BILLINGHAM TOWN V GUISBOROUGH TOWN PREVIEW
EBAC NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
MATCH DAY 8

A fascinating encounter on Saturday when two in form sides meet at Bedford Terrace. The Yorkshiremen have climbed up to third in the league table and have kept five clean sheets in their last eight matches, including cup competitions. That is a vast improvement compared to where they were this time - twelve months ago. For Billlingham, well they haven’t lost to any side below the top two league positions (Hebburn & Stockton) and have scored eight goals in four home fixtures. So it could be a case of Billingham’s attacking threat against an obdurate defence although that would do a disservice to the Priorymen who include a strike force of Danny Earl & Sonni Coleman. This could well be the divisions fixture of the day!

TALKING TOWN:
Kallum Hannah begins a three match ban for the red card he received last week against Heaton Stannington; he will also miss the midweek League Cup tie against Crook Town and next weeks FA Vase trip to Esh Winning. During the week, Taylor Crainey signed from Thornaby: the midfielder featured in last seasons promotion winning side and is available for selection. There are four outgoing players this week: Brandon Kirkbride & Connor Smith have signed for Redcar Athletic while both Jordan Patterson & Shaun Ross have been released. Actual team selection wise: Stephen Oakley, Kris Summers, Matty Robinson and Jack Connor all return. Ash Lavan & Kurtis Howes continue to be longer term absentees.

LAST HOME ENCOUNTER:
2013/14 NL1 Billlingham Town 1 (Williams) Guisborough Town 3 (Roberts 2, Johnson)

RECENT ENCOUNTER:
2018/19 BMLCR2: Guisborough Town 4 (Close, Young, Roberts, McNeil) Billlingham Town 0
Line Up: C Morris, Kirkbride, Flounders, Connor, Oakley (c) (Hughes), Summers, K Morris, J Hillerby, Hutchinson, Thompson, Hogan (Connelly)

GUISBOROUGH RECENT RESULTS:
Guisborough 1-0 Whitley Bay (og)
Penrith 0-1 Guisborough (Coleman) FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round
Northallerton 0-3 Guisborough (Earl, Hawkins*, Robinson)
Seaham Red Star 3-1 Guisborough (McNeil) FA Cup Preliminary Round
Guisborough 1-0 West Auckland Town (Crust)
Hebburn Town 1-2 Guisborough (Coleman 2)
Guisborough 1-0 North Shields (Roberts) FA Cup Replay
North Shields 2-2 Guisborough (Marshall, Earl) FA Cup Extra Prelim Round
* Now at Blyth Spartans

ONE TO WATCH: SONNI COLEMAN
Coleman was on a potential list of future captures during the summer but Town were pipped by Guisborough Town for his signing. An England youth international, Coleman came through Stocktons Academy and then the first team squad.
Likes to drift in between defenders and scored some vital goals already this season.

CLUB LINKS:
Steven Roberts - attacking midfielder played in division one 2013
Harry Thompson - midfielder who was on loan from York City last season
Danny Earl - veteran striker played for Town in division one pre 2008

NEXT UP: LEAGUE CUP GROUP B
Tuesday 10 September: Billlingham Town v Crook Town (NL2)
