Hi, anyone know what the situation is if a club who finishes in the top three this season is ineligible to take up promotion - thinking along the lines of not meeting ground grading criteria? Would one of the other Step 5 leagues get an extra place or could the fourth placed NWCFL club take the promotion spot?

From memory, the Champion Club, 2nd and 3rd placed Clubs in the North West Counties League, Northern Counties East League and the Northern League WILL be promoted regardless of ground grading but will have to ensure their grounds meet the ground grading regulations for Step 4 by the end of March 2021 or be relegated to Step 5 for the 2021-2022 season.

From the handbook:
Clubs promoted to Step 4 must comply fully with the requirements of Grade E by 31st
March in the year following promotion and comply fully with the requirements of Grade D by 31st
March in the year following that. Clubs competing at Step 4 must comply fully with the
requirements of Grade D.

Okay thanks. That sort of confirms what I thought. At least that means no promotions via the back door.

On the subject of promotion, seeing as we are over a third of the way through the season, anyone out there any thoughts on who that top three might end up being? I think Bootle, Runcorn and Northwich Victoria might have been the obvious favourites back in preseason, with Congleton maybe up there too after a decent challenge last year, but so far it’s not panning out that way.
I’ll go with Longridge, Bootle and Whitchurch, but I wouldn’t rule out Irlam or a late push by Northwich Vics.
