Transfers

Welcome Tom Jackson! Not seen much of him but seems to have a few years experience in NCEL. Our first signing of the summer.

Also great news that Jacob Hazel has signed- hopefully a few more of last season's squad will sign too.

Wonder where that leaves Hugo Warhurst?

I imagine Hugo will be leaving- a good player, but maybe lacking in non-league experience. Tom comes highly rated from Brid

Seems like Luke Hinsley has left ahead of the new season

Jackson had a very good season for Bridlington (his only season in the NCEL).

Tom Jackson played two seasons at Bridlington Town. First under Curtis Woodhouse, then under Brett Agnew.

Another fantastic signing! Sam Liversidge here to stay, was my vote for Player of the Year last season. Versatile player who always puts in 100%, will be massive next season.

If we can keep Ible, Tyler, Burton and Cable from the current crop, add Connor Smith who's just been let go by Whitby, then I feel we have the nucleus of a good team for next season.

Thought it was managers job to tell players weather they are still required or not seems like it’s the sporting directors job at frickley think new manager will only be required when they lose for interviews as l said whipping boy for sporting director or whatever that’s supposed to be

The whole point of a sporting director is to aid recruitment- that's the model at nearly every single pro club. Spen and Spink have worked together before so I don't see the problem with Spen having an influence in recruitment?

Sorry ch1401 but didn't Tyler sign for York about two week back, agree with you about the rest plus Ben Algar, Connor Smith especially would be welcomed back.

Re: Transfers

Nothing on York City's website about Tyler signing for them, though he has played for them twice already in his career. Algar would definitely be welcomed back if he can recover from his broken leg.

Be honest now did anyone really want Spencer fearn back on a day to day basis most who l ask tell me no

Re: Transfers

Wouldn't have been comfortable with him back as manager, but think the new role suits him. Spink has a whole pre-season ahead of him, players are already signing on, whilst Spen can work behind the scenes on recruitment and development. Also provides a link to the academy so more Carricks/Szantos/Mears etc

Re: Transfers

But it’s a huge ask for these kids to play in this league 4 kids will be a disaster may throw 1 in but this is a very physical demanding league see you next season google Spencer fearn will again take this club backwards the money he had at his disposal that first season he should have won that league by Xmas

Re: Transfers

Think the quality of the kids coming through is getting better, especially after they're playing with the NEFA as well as Frickley U21s. Spink has said they want at least one academy player in the 16 every week, so they'll get even more exposure.

With regards to Spen, he may have not done well last season, I think it exposed some of his tactical downfalls- however, he'll be spending his entire time recruiting and not focussing on tactics and team selection- meaning hopefully the quality of players coming in will be greater.
