The step 7 league’s hare all received the constitutions from the FA. It depends if your league has sent it over to the clubs. I was sent this from a club that had received it from their league secretary. I assume the Bootifulgame website/twitter page received theirs in a similar way.

I agree, the FA should be making universal announcements. Too many times we have to depend on someone divulging some information they have been told in some sort of secret squirrel exercise.

What is different this season and why is it the FA are making decisions on who joins the league ??

As far back as I can remember it was down to the member clubs voting on who was elected and as the development league falls outside the pyramid why would this season be any different.

Saying that I do think the two teams mentioned as being promoted could well be correct

The FA took over step 7 last season. They made league’s reduce down to a maximum of 16 clubs per league(unless they have special dispensation to run with more). They laterally transferred quite a few teams last season from one league to another. They then announced that step 7 wasn’t going to be part of the NLS from the end of next season. So this season might be the last that they set the constitutions. The rationale is that step 7 league’s will become the pinnacle of county football. I was hoping to see the counties moving teams around, so you can only play in your local step 7 league if you are actually from that league’s county. Whether we get to this point is a totally different matter. I also believe a step 7 league can run with more Reserve teams than they used too & that the ground grading requirements have been lowered at that level. I heard that only 2 step 7 leagues across the country had all their teams with step 7 suitable grounds.

Personally i dont think any leagues member clubs should be allowed to vote on whether a team is relegated/promoted no matter what step it is. If there is a team finishes in a promotion position and they have the required standard of facility then up they go and down they come. Simple enough, What club is going to vote for themselves to be relegated.

The ground grading standard at Step 7 has not been lowered, and indeed the Wearside League will keep their own requirements.
In regards your last sentence, at the time the F.A. introduced the ground grading they were only 2 leagues that met the standard at that time. I assume all meet the standard now as all have had to complete questionaires to the F.A. over the last 4 or 5 seasons

Just baffles me how it’s just a document listing the teams. No FA branding or anything. Anyone could have knocked it up.

It was sent to the a secretary of another step 7 league from the FA. All the leagues were sent the same attachment from the FA. Do you accept that it wasn’t knocked up & was in fact from the FA & is 100% correct?

Thanks Chris, I just assumed that the AGM was held the other day & the Div2 constitution would have been voted on. Surely someone knows who was voted in? The Durham Utd guy must know?

Sure they said 10 teams

Can’t think of them all myself but..

New teams
Durham United Reserves
Willington U23s

Teams from last season

Town End - now TC plastics I believe
Durham city Reserves
Washington Reserves
Jarrow Reserves
Wheatley hill
Hylton SC

Resigned
Seaton Carew

Think there was another reserve team as a new side but can’t think who.
