So sad to hear the passing of former Ryhope and new Billy Town manager Gaz Pearson, and at such a young age, an absolute gentleman who had time to chat football anytime. I bumped into him and his lovely family in Benidorm and obviously as usual with us it was football talk, we spoke about his plans, at the time for Ryhope and had some great craic.

Gaz was a lad who was admired by many for his honest no-nonsense approach.

Thoughts are with his family ..

There will be a lot said about Gaz and his footballing and managing ability. Rightly so.

I’ve had many dealings with him over the years and he always had time for a chat.

I would like to comment on Gaz as a person - genuinely a wonderful man. He’ll be an enormous miss to many.

RIP Gaz

So so sad.

Had the pleasure along with several other bish fans of a 20 minute chat in bar before our game at RCW just a few months back....came across as such a genuine bloke and was great craic.

Thoughts are with all of his family and friends.

Shocked. Nothing less. He told me last week he was on the mend after his heart attack. I had known him about 20 years, good times, bad times, the lot. His lovely family must be devastated. I know I am.

I had the pleasure of staying with the family every other weekend for 10 years with one of my best mates in his brother Alan “ Reggie “ Pearson and Gaz and his dad Arthur and mam carol and when I found out yesterday he had passed away whilst on holiday to say I’m heartbroken is an understatement they were like a second mam and dad to me and then two were like brothers Reggie worshipped the ground their Gaz walked and Reggie was Gary’s hero along with his mam and dad .I spoke briefly to him in the hospital he said he was on the mend then for this to happen to one of life’s proper people it just doesn’t seem fair!! I’ve had numerous messages last night from people asking me to pass on regards of which I will however going off social media you can see how people thought of him and his family which couldn’t be a truer word spoken RIP my great friend

My son Jonny Ball rang me in tears last night to say Gaz had passed away and that impressed on me just how much Gaz had meant to him I knew they were friends from when Jonny played for his team but I hadn’t grasped his admiration for the man as a manager and a person.
Personally for all the years I new Gaz I never really got to really know him as he was always busy with the football And I tended to often chat with his Dad who is also a top bloke I would however like to comment on Gary’s footballing skills not as a player but how he conducted himself with the players in the squad. If I was to ask Jonny which manager honestly told you his thoughts he would answer Gaz because he was always open about his thoughts with him in terns of letting you know exactly where you stood, this is something I have often wondered about over the last few years “why don’t most Managers tell their players the truth like Gaz did ,if your bringing in another player tell them, if your looking to get rid tell them, if your not going to sign them and it’s getting close to the start of the season tell them and give them the opportunity to look elsewhere, that’s what Gaz did and he was respected for it.I’ve never understood why managers as players had this done to them then when they stepped up as managers did exactly the same themselves.
You managers out there learn from Gaz and do as he did you will be better thought of in the long run.
Top bloke, top manager, see you on the other side Gaz.

I apologise for that, just I had some confusing messages last night.
I was hoping it wasn’t so.
