This is a very good Point. Barry "says" he spent the £70k on Billy Town, whose to say he actually did.

Surely he provided evidence of this in court? Or anyone accused of financial crime would use it as a defence.

What evidence would he have IF these payments were sidestepping the Billingham Town accounts as previously mentioned? Presumably these were cash in brown envelope payments?

No, as he pleaded guilty, there was no trial, and no evidence except that of fact. His legal team would have offered the "facts" that he didn't gain personally from the offence to mitigate the sentence, not the finding of guilt.

As I said, played a blinder, offered the unprovable as a get out to save his own skin, at the same time tarnishing a good club.
