Can someone explain why the FA allow elite football to continue but not our steps?

I suspect if all clubs at step 3 and below opted to plat behind closed doors they could maybe still happen but doubt many would opt for behind closed doors. The government clearly dont want football stopped completely, for money and also something to keep us going, football on tv is better than nowt. National league north and above were playing behind closed doors before this lockdown and have got funding of the government to do so

How do you expect clubs to survive playing behind closed doors and have no clubhouse open. Clubs are struggling now with the 150 cap and the stupid recommendation to close an hour before and after games. Absolute shambles. I have no problem with a suspended month but to play through it with no income is a ridicules suggestion. Personally we have been forced to play 4 behind closed doors and lost a lot of income doing that. We wont do that and i wouldn't expect many would. :x

Yeah thats what i was saying, doubt many would opt to keep on playing behind closed doors for reasons you mention. Wonder if that club house rule will continue once football starts again, thats a joke

It’s not a rule it’s a recommendation which I haven’t seen enforced as yet .

I think it runs hand in hand with the rules on the full pandemic, I personally don't know from one day to the next what's happening, what's true, what's hearsay, who you can mix with, where you can go and can't go.

Never known the goalposts to be moved so many times (pardon the pun)

Play half the league season and then do what the SPL does and split the leagues into 2 groups and then play each other once in each group - simples.

Couldnt do that fairly. Whos at home ? whos away ? Def wouldnt vote for that. Scottish leagues are smaller to start with thats how its workable up there

Absoloutely no need for any knee jerk reactions just yet, as a previous post of mine suggested the league season should be able to be played out in full providing we re-start at some point in December and dont have any further long breaks.

The league and County FA's will however perhaps need to knock either one of/or both the league cup competitions (yet to start) and County Cup competitions.

If i was in charge I would also think about cancelling this seasons FA Vase and instead prioritise last seasons final which is still yet to be played.

There are accumulated long breaks nearly every season Micky.. The weather.
So personally I think its best "if" there is a solution to put it in place immediately so then when we do kick back off :?: everyone knows what to expect and can plan around that in a fashion.

Definitely no need for a knee jerk reaction just yet. It will depend largely on whether this lockdown is the last of it I'm guessing. As already said, there are delays and postponements and bad weather, all sorts of things that happen every season so a 4 week hiatus will probably be manageable. But after that, we'll just have to wait and see what happens 2nd December.

Four weeks off with the lockdown yes manageable. A bad December written off with the weather then becomes eight to nine weeks off. Is that manageable.

It was manageable in the winter of 2010-11....

For sure. Knocking the league and county cup on the head will free up midweeks to get the backlog of league games out the way. Been dwindling interest in such cups for a while now with clubs loosing money on them, surely there will be bigger crowds for league games

Personally i find it unbelievable that any cups are going ahead. All should be cancelled now. I know a lot are sponsored but something is going to have to give

I honestly think the survival of the clubs is the main objective here during this lockdown, past, and future issues due to the pandemic.
There are many good people out there who have spent their whole lives working, building these clubs to the pre covid standard.

The Fa and other authorities have leached from these clubs for years and now is the time for "them" to step in and give something back...
