Boro Rangers will potentially have a decent ground and catchment area attracting a good crowd if things go right for them.

Their new ground won’t be ready until the summer. So they’ll either get around the ground sharing and be promoted. This’ll last next season only. Or they’ll be denied promotion and have to wait until next season.

I thought teams were prohibited form ground sharing to get promoted Windy

I think certain clubs are trying to use this joint tenancy to get around ground sharing. It’s really down to whether the FA league committee agrees or not. It isn’t a given that they’ll pass or fail.
As for where they play; this is a secret for now. But they are from Middlesbrough & were set up by Boro fans & they have numerous age group teams. It’ll be nice to see a North Riding League side finally promoted.

Having read the rules from the NWCL site it seems straight forward enough and basically says teams with no real prospect of getting there ground up to scratch or a suitable ground by the 31st of march needn't bother applying. So on that note presume Richmond have started work on a ground or have a way to get round the groundshare, joint tenants somewhere? Never heard of Boro Rangers, where will they be based?

Rules clearly state that in order to be promoted a club must play at the ground they use on being promoted for the entire season they apply. So i would think they couldn't be promoted unless they have played at a suitable ground for all of this current season. They also have to stay there for the first season or so i was led to believe.

• Ground sharing is not permitted in order to gain promotion. Clubs in a ground share MUST be using the ground shown in the application throughout the whole of the current playing season.

Two clubs have circumnavigated the ground share rules and been promoted in previous season’s. They are Pinchbeck Utd & AFC Bolsover. Pinchbeck never played a single game at Spalding Utd’s ground at step 7. Their ground was basically a park pitch. The council owns the ground and allowed them to become joint tenants. The FALC accepted this and Pinchbeck were promoted. Bolsover moved to Shirebrook Towns ground halfway through the season & this was also a joint tenancy agreement. The FALC accepted this too and they were also promoted. Clay Cross Town were furious, because they missed out on promotion to Bolsover and have their own step6 suitable ground. I’m sure this isn’t going to come as a surprise to many, but the FA will tweak the rules and advise clubs accordingly if they want to promote them & if they don’t they won’t.

Yeah rules can sure be bent to suit especially when leagues are short of teams. Never really been the case in the northern league and dont look like going that way anytime soon

I imagine travelling to the Isle of Man would prove costly.

I know a few years ago when jersey applied, they were only allowed to if they paid the expenses of the away teams

That’s the same with the IOM. The IOM home base will be classified as either Liverpool or Manchester airports. The away team’s have to pay the costs to the airport & the IOM have to pay for the flights to and from Liverpool/Manchester/IOM. They’ll have lots of sponsorship and local wealthy businessmen. So just like Jersey & Guernsey, I don’t expect them to stay at step 6 for very long.

And with a settled population of around 84,000 I assume they will have some half decent players to choose from. Their ground is easily up to standard.

Would love a FA Cup or Vase trip over to the Island.

Nope I believe they fell out with them.

Also they may play at blue flames, but they don’t play on the NL standard blue flames pitch. They play down the bottom in which is just a grass pitch, without hard standing, lights etc
