I am aware there is a pre season thread but wanted to give this a thread of its own so people can make a note of the date incase they want to attend this:

All proceeds from this friendly will go towards the rehabilitation of current Willington chairman and former Bishops chairman Richard Tremewan who continues his recovery from a stroke. Hopefully Heritage Park will see a good crowd and raise as much money as possible!

Bumping this back to the top.

Tomorrow night, lets get a good crowd into Heritage Park and raise as much money for the rehabilitation for Richard Tremewan as possible! All gate receipts will be donated.

7:45pm kick off at Heritage Park.

Here is an update taken from Bishops website...

Thursday night will see the Two Blues welcome neighbours, and friends, Willington AFC, to Heritage Park for a special friendly match.

Earlier this year our former, and their current chair, Richard Tremewan, suffered a left haemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in the brain), affecting one side of his body, going on to have a craniotomy the following day at Newcastle’s RVI Hospital.

Effectively “saving his life” Richard’s partner told bishopafc.com a few weeks back that: “He was initially in a coma and is now in rehab but it will take some time before he is back to his lively self.

“The prognosis from the consultant is extremely good but recovery will be a long and intense process, to which Richard is facing with courage and determination. A long journey for us and his family.

“Richard has already defied the odds and knowing his strength and courage, he will continue to do so. Myself, his children, friends and family members all wish him continued support.”

Speaking of the friendly Bishop Auckland chairman, Steve Coulthard, said: “I’m very pleased that a date has been sorted for ex-chairman, and former neighbour for many-a-year, Richard Tremewan’s Fundraiser with his club, Willington AFC on Thursday 18 July.

“I’m also delighted to say that all gate monies, plus anything else raised on the night, will go towards helping Richard’s rehabilitation in any way it can.

“I am sure we will get a fantastic support for the game, from both our supporters and those of our neighbours, Willington.”

Richard’s trusted right-hand man at Willington, acting chairman Lee McConville, added: “It is both a privilege and a pleasure to be invited to Heritage Park to play Bishop Auckland in a pre-season friendly.

“Also their very kind offer to donate the gate receipts to Richard Tremewan who many will know took ill earlier in the year.

“Everyone at Willington AFC would like to thank all concerned for making the game possible.”

The ‘Fundraiser for Richard’ pre-season friendly between Bishop Auckland and Willington takes place at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland, on Thursday 18 July, 19:45 kick-off.

Entry is £4 for all, under 5s are free, and all monies raised will go to Richard’s family to aid with his rehabilitation.

Bishops ran out 4-1 winners last night with goals from Tyrell, Tumilty, Fryatt (pen) and Hoganson.

Crowd just under 300 but plenty cash raised - heard £1,500 + with money still being counted so hopefully around the 2k mark.
