MATCH INFO:
Northern League Division Two
Saturday 6th April, Green Lane, Redcar, Kick Off 3:00pm.
Redcar: Red Shirts, Navy Shorts.
Town: All Royal Blue.
Officials: Thomas Bainbridge, Jack Arrowsmith, Paul Charnock.

FOCUS ON REDCAR:
During pre-season on Non League Zone, two teams I selected as dark horses were Jarrow and Redcar Athletic. Having watched them draw with Hebburn Town the week before the season started, I saw enough to suggest they would be competitive on their inaugural season in the Northern League. Admittedly, they got off to a sluggish start but since Town defeated Redcar 3-1, their results have improved immeasurably. As mentioned during our previous preview, Redcar’s squad is full of former Town players, whom mostly played under Darren Trotter. The most recent move between the two clubs belongs to Arthur Connelly who has infrequently gotten himself on the scoresheet and supporters will no doubt give Gary Redman a bit of banter! What has impressed most within the squad has been the promotion of several of Redcar’s under 19s squad into the first team. McCorie Carmichael scored twice in midweek while Jake Lance and Thomas Eglington have also figured. Veteran, Gary Wood is away so Lance Skelton could start and central defender Paul Roddam has signed from Thornaby.

ONE TO WATCH: ADAM PRESTON
Redcar’s top goalscorer of the season with twenty four goals. Could spearhead the attack in a 4-5-1 formation. Missed the 3-1 defeat at Bedford Terrace back in November. Nine goals in his last eight games.

RECENT RESULTS:
Redcar 3-1 Washington (Carmichael 2, Lance)
West Allotment Celtic 2-1 Redcar (Woodhouse)
Redcar 2-2 Chester Le Street Town (Preston, Redman)
Northallerton Town 2-0 Redcar
Redcar 2-2 Esh Winning (Skelton, Preston)
Bedlington Terriers 0-3 Redcar (Preston 3)
Redcar 9-0 Brandon United (Preston 3, Carmichael 2, Rivis, Calvert, Redman, Connelly)
Ryton & Crawcrook Albion 1-4 Redcar (Rivis, Preston, Webster, Wood)

RECENT ENCOUNTERS:
No previous encounters for this fixture
Reverse Fixture: Billingham Town 3 Redcar Athletic 1 (Summers, Lavan, Hutchinson)

REDCAR LAST SIX HOME: DWWDDW
TOWN LAST SIX AWAY: WWWLLW

TALKING TOWN:
The most intriguing part to the build up of the game is which formation will be chosen by Barry Oliver and Paul Edwards. Dan Flounders, Stephen Oakley and Kris Summers have all been in excellent form defensively and in the opposition box for set pieces. However, Town may decide to match Redcar like for like. The only significant injury concern is to Luke Hogan who made a major impact against Chester Le Street but had to be substituted due to an ankle injury. It is suspected that Hogan has suffered ligament damage and he looks certain to miss the remaining three fixtures. Luke spent Thursday night at Accident & Emergency and we await for further news. Mark Dixon has recovered from his ankle injury and will be looking for a return, so too Matty Robinson who is added to the squad. Liam McPhillips is another expected to make the squad. An updated goals tally means Craig Hutchinson has moved onto thirty nine strikes while Ash Lavan is now on twelve after his match winning goal against Willington.
