What are peoples thoughts on this?

Curious if doing this would have changed Northern League standings last season..

It isn’t fair either way really - I feel like expunging the record is the best way to do it though because awarding three points to teams they’ve yet to play isn’t fair on teams who did play them and who dropped points.

Good news for Shields though, they’re now 1 point off top spot and 3 ahead of Warrington (who drop from 2nd to 3rd).

It doesn't matter whether or not people agree with a set of rules, as long as they are in place at the beginning of a season and are adhered to and applied correctly, there can be no cause for complaint.

The trouble is, this isn’t always the case. Take promotion/relegation from certain steps in the pyramid. All the FA does is put into the rules ‘down to the league committees discretion’. I’m going to keep an eye out for what the FA does across step 6(in regards to relegation). The best ppg is in the NCEL1, but it likely that 4 feeder leagues in that area will promote teams. So will 2 half decent sides be relegated from that league. But in other parts of the country, very poor teams will avoid relegation because they have few or no feeder league applicants. Or will the FA use lateral transfers instead of relegating clubs, because there are quite a few spaces at step 6. I think promotion & relegation could become a postcode lottery & that’s unfair imo.

Too right and that is what I meant by "adhered to and applied correctly".
The phrase "will be decided at the sole discretion of the Committee" seems to be mentioned in every rule pertaining to the National Leagues System. The committee in this case being "the relevant Committee appointed by the Association". Basically it's an all-powerful body which will do whatever it deems to be a good idea at the time.
