I was wondering the same but my passenger Adam Preston''s dad Percy had a different view as to why there should be as many as 4 games on given the drop in the number of teams in both divisions, Valid point but I still like Boxing Day football. Today's game was a proper derby game which saw us play the whole 2nd half with 10 men and then grab an equaliser at the very death. More of the same for me next Boxing Day!

I take it that this is banter? Especially in the NL1, with its 34 game season!

I could understand if we had a lot more teams in the league. But we have a situation this season, where currently teams have between 13-17 league games to play. With only a maximum of 2 teams left in the Vase after the next round. I don’t agree that we’ll get fixture backlog. I’d think that they’ve missed out on the chance of Boxing Day bumper crowds.

The clubs could have arranged games, seeing the opportunities mentioned. But getting players, staff, volunteers and outside agencies etc arranged on a bank holiday may have put them off . I’m sure the league would have had no objection to more games being arranged, given those that were played.

There’s no right answer here, but people should be asking the questions at the clubs as to why nothing was arranged.

Whitley Bay vs North Shields was originally scheduled for Boxing Day but the league moved it forward to last weekend which was disappointing.

Big shame for The Stan they couldn't get their game on as would have been a large crowd being the only early kick off on this side of the river.

Took in a great game between Spartans & Spenny myself, but unfortunate a double-header wasn't possible this year.
