RYTON & CRAWCROOK ALBION v BILLINGHAM TOWN PREVIEW

Billingham Town's final game before Christmas and then we move on to part two of the December derby double against Synthonia. Astonishingly, Town are still unbeaten in the league as we move into the second half of the season. Town have an excellent record at Ryton in the league in recent seasons. Last Season’s 8-0 win was preceded by 5-0 and 3-0 wins respectively although Ryton have sandwiched in-between a 1-0 victory in the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup.

FOCUS ON RYTON:
Ryton have had a dip in form of late, similar to Washington’s run of results last week. However, on a difficult pitch, they should prove to be competitive opposition. The squad is more or less the same as when Town faced Ryton during the summer. They have recently brought in former Bedlington forward Sam Norris from Ashington; Norris was instrumental in Bedlington’s 3-2 win which derailed Town’s promotion hopes back in March 2017. Kallum Hampson Broadhead has left for Birtley on Friday, despite only signing from Whickham in October. Defender Jamie Dunn missed a penalty in the reverse fixture and once played for Cirencester Town. Fellow defender, Liam Barker has faced Town several times before while at Tow Law while goalkeeper Stefan Holden has played in Wales, several Lancashire clubs and for a Dunston.

ONE TO WATCH: SCOTT JASPER
Scored Ryton’s only goal of the opening day 4-1 defeat to Town last August. Has also scored four goals during their last eight fixtures. The former Whitley Bay forward has twelve goals in total.

RECENT RESULTS:
West Allotment 0-0 Ryton
Ryton 0-2 Chester Le Street
Hartlepool United 3-1 Ryton (Barker) - DCC 2nd Round
Northallerton 5-1 Ryton (Norris)

Bedlington 3-2 Ryton (Jasper, Dunn)
Ryton 2-0 Brandon (Turnbull, Jasper)
Ryton 2-1 Durham (Jasper 2)

Last Season: Ryton & Crawcrook Albion 0 Billingham Town 8

TALKING TOWN:
Kris Summers returns after missing last week’s win against Washington. Apart from Reece Kenney, who took a knock to his ankle, Managers Barry Oliver and Paul Edwards have a full squad to choose from. Ash Lavan bagged five goals in this fixture last season and is in good form right now after scoring four against Washington last Saturday.
