Here's my report from today's Northern League Division One clash between Sunderland RCA and Ryhope CW where goals from Nathan O'Neill (x2) and Kyle Davis (x2) helped RCA to a thrilling 4-3 win.

Have to say. This game was an advert for NL Football. The weather was awful (especially in the 2nd half). Both teams gave it their all and made an enjoyable match to watch.
We were well protected from the eliments in the stand. However I bet everyone not in the stand during the 2nd half couldn't wait for the final whistle.

Great hospitality from RCA - The clubs even shared a Kit Bag as the the RCA shirts were mixed in with the RCW kit bag at the cleaners.

Brilliant professional display from the officials.

Well done to all who were there.

Agreed with one proviso; the kick-off was delayed because the officials objected to the black boxer shorts worn by RCA keeper Dimi Tsapalos. The lad tried to get round the problem by rolling them up a bit but they were still visible when he pulled up his lime green shorts. The referee did hint that he might have ignored them, had he not been "under observation" and explained that the officials would have been marked down drastically had they not taken action. I know not what Tsapalos eventually wore but I doubt if there were a pair of lime green underpants to hand.

I think they might be on someone's shopping list now, though

Of course in the circumstances the robotic assessor couldn't have just turned a blind eye.
