BILLINGHAM TOWN v WASHINGTON PREVIEW

On Saturday, Town host their penultimate home game of the year against Washington. Confidence is sky high amongst the squad after a convincing derby win last week against Synthonia. A victory would put further pressure on the sides below Town in the table as Billingham look to continue their imperious form.

FOCUS ON WASHINGTON:
It’s fair to say Washington are going through an erratic spell in form. After a poor start to the season, they soon recovered and found themselves in the top half of the table by the end of October. However, another dip in form has seen them slip back down the table. They have lost several good players of late. Nicholas Allen joined Seaham Red Star while Dan Robinson left for Heaton Stannington. Before that, the talented Kieran McWaters signed for Northallerton. On Thursday, Nathan Cobain joined Esh Winning and losing David Smith to Jarrow must have been a blow to the club. Incomings include Alex Ramshaw from Sunderland RCA and Fraser Colling via Consett. Washington have also struggled in the discipline category as they sit second bottom above Synthonia in the Fair Play table.

ONE TO WATCH: KRIS GOSS
Tall, physically strong centre forward and the main goal threat. Was one of Washington’s better players when Town won a scrappy affair back in September 1-0. Also adapt in the air.

RECENT RESULTS:
Washington 0-1 West Allotment
Chester Le Street 3-2 Washington (o.g, J Allen)
Washington 0-3 Northallerton
Washington 0-2 Esh Winning
Washington 2-1 Bedlington (Hanson, Ramshaw)
Heaton Stannington 3-1 Washington (Goss) - EAMC
Brandon 2-3 Washington (Goss, Hanson, Hennis)
Washington 2-0 Ryton (N.Allen, Henderson)

TALKING TOWN:
Central defender Kris Summers is unavailable due to his sister getting married today so Stephen Oakley could partner Dan Flounders although Joe Hillerby is rated doubtful. Neither Reece Kenney nor Elliott Beddow have suffered any setbacks on their road to recovery and will be part of the squad. Town have won their last seven league games since a home draw against Heaton Stannington back in October.
