After an investigation and a decision made by the FA Leagues Committee, the proposed merger between FC Humber United and Askern Miners FC will now not be going ahead.

As a result, the merged club will not be taking its place in the 2022/23 Toolstation NCEL season.

Division One will now run with 21 clubs rather than the 22 that was proposed in the provisional constitution with FC Humber United leaving the NCEL.

The Toolstation NCEL have reluctantly accepted the resignation of Hall Road Rangers who drop down out of the competition that they had been part of since its inception back in 1982.

A statement released by the Haworth Park side reads: "The statement you are about to read is of a decision not taken lightly for the footballing club of Hall Road Rangers.

"Established in 1959 and steeped in history, we’ve made the challenging decision to resign as a founder member of the Northern Counties East Football League.

"Given the changes in the world we live in over the last couple of years, we’ve seen a decline in revenue and also support.

"Operating on a skeleton basis has taken its toll and, therefore, leaves us with the unfortunate decision to be made.

"The club will remain as a priority and we’ve made the decision to join the local Feeder League of the Humber Premier League.

"Stability and sustainability of Hall Road Rangers has been fundamental in this challenging decision to ensure it remains.

"We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all past and present committee members, sponsors, players and supporters for the support given throughout.

"We’d also like to encourage potential, future volunteers to come forward and offer their support.

"We firmly believe that a break away from Step 6 football will allow us to regroup and re-evaluate our standing and move forward for the future of the club itself.

"Yours in sport, The Hall Road Rangers committee."

There will be no replacement for Rangers, meaning that Division One will run with twenty clubs for the upcoming 2022/23 season and Swallownest, who were due to face them in the First Round of this season's League, will have a bye to the Second Round.

All at the NCEL are sad to see the departure of one of its former clubs and wish Rangers all the best for the future.
