There been a few discussions with the local council and obviously local residents, if I’m being totally honest I’m not 100% sure if the exact plans, however it’s very much as follows.
New stand will be situated all the way down Shaftesbury Ave end, probably from both ends of the new floodlights, so in effect when you drive down towards Mariners Park, you will see the new stand first.
The plans is also to incorporate, gym, club shop, and other amenities that could generate income on non match days.
The factory land is surprisingly large, hence why the club want to build a small number of houses etc next to the original housing estate, this would help to to finance the building of stand etc, however still a lot of discussions with the council & residents before anything happens, oh and promotion from the Northern Premier League will probably speed things up.
Hope that helps a bit??.

Forgot to mention, likewise I’m too very impressed with the new floodlights, very similar to Salford Fc’s floodlights, without trying to sound too biased, I kinda prefer the shape of Shields.

Love the round design.

The old ones might be useful for the 3G or at Harton Welfare???

Did you notice the Claret on two floodlights and two blue floodlights??.

I do believe that both Lee & Graham give the heads up when they want the pitch watering.

Heard from a good source that the houses being built will be to accomodate some of the more southern based players and will be as part of their weekly wage where they live rent free and seems they are looking at bringing more in from down south areas as they have saturated the best players they can get from this area. Interesting proposition but as cestrian says wouldnt fancy living opposite a football ground for the exact reason he said.

The transformation in the ground is stunning and possibly would have been even quicker if the 35 men and a dog had went to support them a few more years ago down the line but he has certainly put his money where his mouth is no doubt about that

No point in dwelling in the past if the Peterlee 19 or 35 had turned up, life’s always been about ifs & but’s, it’s all about the Now, Shields have to seize the day, and from the looks of things they are doing just that.

One thing I will say regarding the new houses being built, again personal choice about having your new home built on an industrial estate or next to a football ground, New houses will always sell, I’ll guarantee this much those new plots will be snapped up.
