The Trustees of Brandon United Football Club have released the following statement:
With the announcement in February that club stalwarts Bill Fisher and Barry Ross were stepping down from senior team football commitments, Barry with immediate effect and Bill at the end of the season, speculation began to mount about the future of Brandon United.
For a number of years Bill and Barry have managed to keep Brandon United going when lesser people would have given up. Their departure however gave an opportunity for a younger generation to step up and take the club forward. Knowing their decision in good time allowed the Trustee Board to take the necessary steps to find the right people to manage the senior side of the club.
As usual in instances like this when facts are not available social media and internet forums fill the void with speculation and try to pass it off as fact.
We did not wish to make any announcements until the end of the season but feel we have to address rumours which affect our club. We therefore are happy to announce that for the start of next season the positions of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer have all been filled along with other key committee roles. All places have been filled by people with committee experience in both the Northern League, senior and junior football.
As most of the people involved have other commitments until the end of the season it would be wrong to name them at this stage. However more details will be provided at a later date.
It can also be confirmed that Brandon United have not resigned from the Northern League and senior football will still be played at the Welfare Ground next season and beyond.
It is hoped this brings some clarity.
